After being sentenced to life in prison for armed robbery, a Washington state thug was beyond shocked after learning that his Democrat Governor had decided to release him. Unfortunately, things would go horribly wrong just a short while later as the man decided to say “thank you” in the worst possible way.
The entire ordeal began back in 1995 when a man by the name of Stonney Rivers was arrested for armed robbery. However, this wasn’t his first offense, and seeing how the state has a “three strikes you’re out” rule and this was, in fact, the man’s third violent felony, he was automatically sentenced to life behind bars – and rightfully so.
In all honesty, if you prove yourself to be a hazard to society and its safety despite being given two “second chances,” so to speak, then it’s better off for everyone if you’re just locked away. Fortunately, that was the case, that is, until a liberal politician decided to stick her nose in where it didn’t belong.
Democrat Christine Gregoire – the Washington Governor at the time — decided that just before she was set to hand off the reigns of her office to someone else, she would free a bunch of criminals.
As it turns out, Rivers made the woman’s list and would eventually have his sentence conditionally commuted in 2015. Given the second chance of a lifetime (or more like his 3rd “second chance”), he served two years on community supervision, which ended in January – but that’s when things went horribly wrong.
Shame on former Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire for commuting the life sentence of Stonney Marcus Rivers 2013 & allowing him to go free in 2015 to now murder David Alonso Cabrera at a Kent motel.https://t.co/carmIYCBBH

Now free and clear, it seems that the man decided to give Gregoire, the Democrat party, and any politically correct members of the public who agreed with his release a proper “thank you” – and it was in the most horrific way possible. According to DownTrend, Rivers is back in jail, once again looking at life behind bars after murdering someone in a robbery gone wrong.
Rivers is accused of fatally shooting David Cabrera in the face during a drug robbery at a Kent motel on Nov. 2, charging papers say. He is also charged with second-degree assault for pointing a gun at Cabrera’s girlfriend and threatening to kill her, say the charges.
If convicted, Rivers would again be subject to a life sentence, the charges say.
“Rivers continues to commit crimes, even when he is on community custody and even after being given a once-in-a-lifetime second chance through a governor’s commutation,” Senior Deputy Prosecutor John Castleton wrote in charging papers. [Source: Seattle Times]
Sadly, it seems that Christine Gregoire knew full well that Rivers had committed three crimes and actually believed that he wouldn’t commit a fourth. At the end of the day, the three strike rule is there for a reason, but because a Democrat thought she knew better, a man is dead because of it.
Of course, the left wants to point the finger at Rivers – which they should – but he’s not the only one who’s to blame here. Christine Gregoire freed a man who shouldn’t have been let out of jail only for the criminal to escalate his violence further by taking a life.
Political correctness is a cancer in this country, and this case proves exactly that. Sometimes, bad people just need to be locked up for the rest of their lives so that society can sleep safely at night. Throwing away the key doesn’t make you heartless, it makes you smart as you’re acting out of necessity. Instead, this liberal governor thought that the freedom of a criminal was more important than the lives of the very people she swore an oath to protect – and that sums up the danger of the left and their ideals.
